Tonight Crycket gets dropped off at the specialist. Tomorrow they are doing the x-rays and maybe CT to determine which hip and knee will get fixed first. Friday they do the surg and she should come home staurday. Poor little girl, not even 2 yet. Will give updates as they come in.

CT showed damaged to her hips. Hopefully they can be saved without total replacement. Will know more today when she goes under and her hip is scoped.

How old is she now? And do you have any x-rays you could post? Total hip replacement?

Doc just called and there is some degeneration of the dorsal rim of her hip. We had planned BPO but even the minimal rotation of the pelvis would impinge on her femur. He found a bone spur on her femur and a small ridge of them on her hip. Looks like we will only do the TPLO on her knee for now. No x-rays to post. Most of the info is from 3D reconstruction of the CT images for gait and some x-rays.

Crycket is 1 1/2 years old.

Oh so sad, poor baby! And you! Just finishing week 12 of recovery with my girl -same age. Had to break twisted femur and reset because it was causing the patella to luxate plus a tplo.

Just got back from seeing her. Looks good; very groggy. If all goes well tonight she should come home tomorrow.

Doc just called. She did not eat breakfast (not totally unusual for her) but loves the cheese covering her pain meds. Bearing a little weight on her leg and has the greenlight to come home at noon. Now the hard part starts; keeping her calm for 8 weeks in a house with 3 other dogs and 2 cats.

Update: She is home and sleeping. Little trooper is already almost flat footing weight on her repaired knee.

Cryckey is doing well and driving us nuts. She wants to play. Hard to keep her penned in one room all day. Gonna be a long 8 weeks!

There are a lot of doggy puzzle games you can buy or make. I bought Elvis a bunch of cheap toys that he never normally has (because he shreds them in seconds) but he become oddly attached to one that we named "Recovery Ostrich". He carried it everywhere and made sure he was always touching it, even when asleep. We would rotate his other toys and do some kongs filled with frozen peanut butter, but we never took away that ostrich!
