so, does anyone know how to evaluate cat breeders specifically Maine Coons, or how to find cat rescue groups?

There were other rescue websites besides this one which is located in Kentucky.

Here is a picture of Catso Fatso. We rescued him from a local shelter. When we first got him he had been completely shaved only having fur on his head, tail and lower legs. Apparently he was one huge mat so that is how they dealt with it. He was also very very emaciated and would make the strangest moaning/howling noises so at the time we called him Freaky Cat because of his behavior and looks. Once the coat came back and he put some weight on his behavior changed...

I asked around. My Aunt had a friend who had a Ragdoll, and then she got one. I asked for references and really researched the breed. I think there might even be a website like NCA but for certain breeds of cats. Leska ( Orka's Mom) has two Maine Coons and I'm pretty sure she researched the heck out of her breeder, maybe send her a pm?
