Can you spot the turkey in this photo?

Xena looks hopefully at three 25-pound turkeys that just came off an open fire during a turkey roast. Her patience and good manners were rewarded with a few choice turkey scraps ...

Wow, that looks like a good time. Is that the same as a pig roast? Xena looks like she is hoping one of those turkeys would fall her way.

What a very good and smart girl!!! She sure did deserve the nice reward that she got! It does look like a lot of fun, and it doesn't look like it was awfully hot!!!

Yes, it is a lot like a pig roast. Same general idea. The turkeys take about four hours, and a pig takes a lot longer. Turkeys also tend to be more useable meat and less waste ...

It was hot, but not terribly so. Fortunately, the friend who was hosting the party has a big, cold pond on her land. Needless to say, Xena (and I) spent a lot of time in there.

Odd thing: Xena gets a little freaked out when there are humans in the water with her. When she swims by, I tend to reach out and hold her, letting her pull me. She's not impressed and tends to avoid me in the water. Kinda funny. I don't think she realized humans could be in the water. Most of her swimming has been in rivers that people don't swim in. Working on getting her used to it, but if I'm drowning, I don't think Xena will be coming to the rescue.

Wow! That must have taken a lot of self-control on Xena's part! Good dog!
Quark and Morgan say she should get a whole turkey for a reward.
