Bo's first accupuncture treatment

About a week ago Bo sprained/strained his front wrist. (Thank you very much LEVI!!!...but that's another story
) He was starting to get better with rest & Rimadyl, but the woman that was watching him while we were out of town for the weekend didn't listen to me & let him outside with rambunctous lil' brother.
Sooo...back to square one we went.
I took him back to the vet today for some x-rays. They came out OK so she recommended another round of R&R (rest & Rimadyl) She's also trained in accupuncture, so I suggested we try that instead. She wasn't sure how well it would work on a sprain, but was willing to give it a try as an experiment. He had a 20 min treatment and was a very good boy! Since we've been home he's MUCH improved with hardly a limp at all. :D I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will work and we can avoid any more Rimadyl. I don't have a problem with it when necessary, but it would be great if this could be taken care of with the accupuncture alone. I'm just so impressed with his response so far. Keep yer fingers & paws crossed for us. ;)

fingers and paws crossed here, along with prayers and good thoughts. Every since we've had Apache I'm a BIG believer in holistic medicine. Way to go, and very good boy Bo!

Aww...I hope Bo is back to feeling like his old self soon! Give him a hug and a kiss on the nose from me.

And Levi!!! Apparently you have the devil in you like a few (or maybe ALL!!!) your siblings!!! Be nice to your brother. (That's one of those things that gets said here quite often!)

Yes, Kelly the phrase heard around here goes something like "GENTLE Levi! Be gentle with your brother!"
I think he & his siblings are getting a reputation for being rather..ahem..."lively." :D

I'm amazed at how well Bo is doing since this afternoon. Virtually no limping at all. It's really made me a believer.

I'm so happy that the accupuncture has helped him! It worked wonders for our Lucy's back...we're still amazed! She had injured her back so badly she could barely walk. One accupuncture treatment later...she was 80% better. Now she's 110% better...and a lively little wench!

Does the Vet use Chinese Herbs too? Perhaps you can use some of those instead of the NSAIDs.

Hmmm...I don't think so, but I'll ask her at our next visit. She knows I'm hesitant to use NSAIDs but she never mentioned that as an alternative.

My friend also suggested Arnica, but I haven't looked into that yet. Bo is almost 100% this am, so I'm hoping the accupuncture alone has done the trick. *insert crossing fingers gremlin here*
