Boating Day!

Looks like a great day for all. But I have a question. That yellow rope while swimming, isi that a special rope used in boating that floats? And is it tied to the life vest or collar?

I do have a pond I would like to see if Snuffles would swim in, but he will have to be leashed since it is a public city park and I worry his legs may get tangle. I know the pond is pretty deep too, because thay drained it a few years ago and dug it out and refilled it. And it is pretty clean water too :) So really it would be ideal in stead of a pool. I can not go in with him, so I need to make it as afe as possible.

We just bought 50ft ski rope and put a latch on it from Walmart and her life vest has a place to attach it.

Leonard, I have to keep them leashed at the lake. I use a reel for extension cords and polypropylene rope (it floats). I tie it to the collar. They get wrapped a lot so I don't pull it tight. I unwrap them when they get to shore. It works fine. My reel is orange with a black area I can hold and have the reel spin. I get it at home despot.

Bob said what I was going to say. They will get tangled so just don't pull too tight. You may find yourself having to let go occasionally until he gets back to shore. I don't think anyone will condemn you for doing that if you're there to catch him before he goes romping off. Give it a try and be sure to use the floating rope.

As an aside, at one of HCNC's water trials, during the tow a boat, Hugo got the rope wound around a hind leg but managed to get the boat to shore anyway.

I encouraged him to finish the exercise and the steward was careful to keep as little tension on it as possible, since the boat, once in motion, tended to stay in motion (thanks Mr. Newton for that gem). However, under any other circumstances, I would just let go of the rope.

The rule holds true: " A tired kid is a happy kid" (and happy parents). Bet they all slept well after the outing.

Where are you in TN? My brother lives near South Holston lake.
