blade question

I got a pair of shears for christmas and I used them twice but now they don't cut but just pull the hair. I ordered new blades from pet edge, number 10, is that the right type for Newfie hair?

It depends: What do you want to do with the blade? It will cut fairly close. I sometimes use a 10F or a 7F to tunnel out the belly or clean the private area. You can get the blades sharpened and they will work good as new. Since you only used them twice they may not be dull at all. Did you try spraying them with cool lube or something simular? (WD40) Sometimes blades stop cutting when they get something stuck in them.

BTW the blades need to be on the clippers, running when you spray them. YOu can also use a blade wash the clean them. But you have to oil them afterwards if the wash does not have a lubricant in it.

I want to get a close shave because they go in the pool, plus they are more active after a shave, almost puppy like. I have cleaned the blades while running in the oil and lots of stuff comes out. I use an ice spay to cool them down and stop when they feel too hot. I always oil them before during and after. I have not taken them apart yet. The dogs are not bathed before a shave. Could be dirt stuck in there?
I ordered extra blades and oil. What type of cleaner do you use?
