KatieB do you have an update on the Berner that you rescued that was going to have surgery. If you posted something I've missed it.

Yes I do...although I was waiting to get to see him and get some photos to show you all. We found a permanent home for him, along with the local berner rescue. They had been on the list for a rescue berner for over a year and fell in love with him. In addition they have the time and resources to care for him after his surgeries. We were having a very hard time finding a family that could commit to the tremendous amount of care he will need, however, they are a great fit for him.

He is not scheduled to have surgery until he is over a year old when his growth plates have closed so now he is on constant pain medication and just trying to get him through until then as he can barely walk. He has lost 13 pounds so far with a goal for him to lose ten more or so before the surgery.

He will have his right hip replaced first and then once he is recovered from that they will do the left. Once he comes through both those surgeries he should be a healthy happy dog for the rest of his life. He has remained close as the local berner rescue club likes to see their rescues at club events etc. so we should get to see a lot of him.

Thanks for asking about him....he's doing great and once we can get his hips fixed and pain free he'll be such a great dog for his new family who is just overjoyed to have him.

I'll post pictures the next time I see him.
