So we took our usual mid-afternoon walk through the woods, back to the river, and found it somewhat frozen. Ben ventured out on the ice a bit, checking it out (pardon the cell-phone pictures):
Not to be daunted, he entered the river as usual:
Only to realize, he couldn't climb out. His front paws scrabbled at the ice; his back end not strong enough to lift himself out:
Not to worry; it's only a couple feet deep. Mom called him over to where it comes up to the banks very gradually and he walked out and had a good shake:
I think he's still in motion here, as his nose is small and his body gigantic. He is thinking, "I'll be back tomorrow, river. Mom has a warm towel waiting for me at home now!"
