Bear/Chance's departure

Well, Bear/Chance left today with his forever mommy, Patty aka irishmist428. Patty is a wonderful person and I feel comfortable that she and Akira will make a good home for Bear. I just had this feeling from day one that Patty was the home for Bear. Bear just melted in to her arms as she petted and loved on him. When he got in the blazer to leave, he just grabbed one of the many new toys Patty had brought and sacked out in the back as happy as could be.

Seeing him leave was very hard. BUT I was able to hold my tears until Patty started driving away. (And until about 1/2 hour later when I talked to Annie Milliron and now as I type this) Bear is a wonderful newf and we will surly miss him. At least I can keep in touch over the net on Bear's life.

I have been thinking about Patty and wondering if she got there safely to pick up Chance. I am looking forward to meeting him on the 15th when we all get together!

Jeannie, I'm glad to hear that Patty is on her way back home with Chance
. She'll make a wonderful Newfie mom and we'll get to see Chance and Akira on our playdates. It's sad to see him go, but Chance probably thanks you for showing him that there are caring people in the world. I couldn't take on being a Newf foster parent, because I'd never want to let them go.

Jeannie, it is that feeling you describe that reasurred both you and Bear.

Saying goodbye to them is the permission that they await to hear to start a new life. It is a reward for your unselfish efforts on their behalf. It is like raising the nest of motherless birds and releasing them into the wild where they belong.

Chance knew. He got into that vehicle with his new owner and his new toys; that was his "thank you" and his reassurance that everything was okay.

Only if they could talk, what stories we would hear. Jeannie, he won't be far away at all. He will remain in your heart and memory always. Thank you for helping him along his way.

Oh Roscoe, you made me cry again. I think he knew on Monday that he would be leaving us. Just the way he was extra loving it was like he was saying "thanks for taking care of me". Saying good bye is hard, but he is happy and he has a wonderful home.

Yes, him jumping into that blazer so happily was reassurance to me that everything was ok. He will always be in my heart and memory and he will always be BEAR to me.

It can be so hard to let them go. I used to do fostering for the humane society (had more space). You did a wonderful thing Jeannie. And now maybe you can get a puppy! ;)

I'm sure Patty will send you/post pics of the lucky guy.

Now you all made me cry too. I am so glad that this story has a happy (albeit bittersweet for you) ending. I'm sure that he will be very happy in his new home.
