Bailey's Epic Journey With Her Boys

The photo was taken on the coastal trailhead at Rossport, Ontario. Bailey sat long enough for a photo before heading into cool waters of Lake Superior. We drove 6,000 km from Labrador to Thunder Bay in 16 days with our Newf. Bailey and I took a Rally-O seminar in Peterborough with our South Eastern Ontario Regional Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada Club. It was well worth the trip.

Sounds like a great trip. We just came home from New Zealand and I wasn't able to bring Ella. Thankfully we have an excellent kennel that we trust, but vacations are not the same when you have to leave your dog behind. It looks like your kids and pup had a fantastic time. After about 10 days into our New Zealand trip my 6 year old son was literally crying for Ella. When we finally got home and picked her up, the 2 could not be separated for several hours lol.

Growing up, our dog always travelled with us even in the boat. I decided that if Bailey couldn't come with us then I would rather stay home. You are fortunate to have found such a good kennel. We do not have one here in Labrador that is suited to giant breeds like Bailey. However, I had to kennel Bailey in Thunder Bay because the air conditioning stopped working in our room on the first night and no other pet friendly rooms or other hotels were available due to the demand of the Canada Day long weekend. Thankfully, I was able to board her for a few days at a wonderful kennel who specializes in Newfoundland dogs - 192 acres of beautiful grounds. I know how your son felt because I could not get use to the empty bench where Bailey is always on. We did visit her everyday and took her out for a daily walk. The kennel owners breed Newfoundland dogs and are active in their local Newfoundland dog club regional club. They welcomed us and over cups of tea, shared their love of the breed with our family. My boys have been away for the past 4 weeks and like your son, they are anxious to see Bailey.
