On Thursday morning August 14th the CBS Early Show will be filming our Newfoundland dogs performing their Water Rescue and Draft exploits live from 7 to 9 AM at Mystic Seaport in Mystic CT. We encourage you all to watch, but more importantly, we ask you to join The Newfoundland Club of New England at Mystic Seaport, as we would like to have as many Newfoundlands present as possible. It will be live and CBS is planning (8) 1-1 1/2 minute segments on the Early Show and it would be a real feather in the Club's hat to have as many Newfoundlands present as possible.

DArn! I'm gonna be out-of-state! Does the CBS early show in WA run from 4-6 AM or is it delayed?

Cooooooooool! I wish I was up there, I would to see this in person. I am not a morning person, but I will for sure drag my butt up to see this. I know it will be awesome.

Since you said they are filming "live" does that mean they are broadcasting the segment the same day,Aug.14th? Wish I'd known earlier; I'd have taken the day off to go to Mystic. As it is, I'll probably be late for work so I can watch. Thanks for letting us know.

PS I also understand there are NCNE water trials on the 16-17 in Auburn, MA. Is that correct?

This will be shown "Live" between 7-9 AM on Thursday. They are not taping it and showing it at a later date.
Sorry if it's late notice but we were just asked yesterday or the day before. Club members have done 3 different demos at the Seaport- one each in May, July & August- all as part of the Seaport's "Sea Dogs: Great tails of the sea" exhibit.
The local CBS affiliate station was there last Sunday and short exerpts were shown live Sunday morning (or was it the Sunday before last?). I guess CBS (national and not local) saw or heard about it and contacted the Seaport who contacted our working dog secretary.
This is all last minute.

And yes, the NCNE Water Tests (2 days)are being held in Auburn, MA this weekend. Information including directions is on the NCNE website at www.newfclubne.org Hope many of you can attend- it's great to watch! Wish everyone luck for me. I may be attending the Seattle water test this weekend instead.

Too bad they are not doing the next day - then I could have wrapped arounf my trip up there for the water test. We are hoping Miss Savannah Banana will pass are Wd this weekend at the NCNE water test.

I just can't do theat trip to Mystic on Thursday come home and then go to Auburn on Friday.

It would have been great to do the CBS thing on Friday but I guess CBS wanted Thursday. I didn't know anything about it until last night. The Seaport has been working with Keith on all this stuff.
Good luck at the Water Test with Savannah! Even tho I won't be there, I'll still be rooting for ya!

I am sure either Keith had no control over it or didn't want to do it on Firday because water test committe has tpo setup on Friday and doing both would be to much. I wish I had been able to make up the seaport for the water demo days, I only made it up for the draft, it's over 2 hours for us.

Thanks for good luck wishes. It would be nice if Savannah can get a little glory too this month. I assume you are going to Wa to see Stacey and not just watch a water test -- Enjoy the trip.

Are non-participating spectators allowed at the water tests? Does that include non-participating dogs, or is that not a wise idea?

SPectators are most certainly welcome. Unentered dogs must be kept away from the test sight.
