Appreciate your groomer

So, I let Ella play in the mud today and had no idea what I was in for. I had no choice but to groom her myself after she rolled in the mud, loving every second of it. Three hours later and a lot of pain in my back, Ella was clean once again. This really made me appreciate all those groomers out there. It took me so long just to get her coat wet. The shampoo was not much easier because I couldn't get the product in her coat and I didn't want to use too much. The conditioning went a little smoother, but the drying, oh the drying... I used a decent dryer but could not get the coat dry. The dryer I used only has cool air and I was wondering if that's why the drying was so difficult. Anyways, I now understand why groomers charge what they do for Newfs.

Mix the shampoo with some water in a squeezy ketchup bottle, makes it easier.

I tend to partially dry, leave for an hour and then redry.

I am sure Ella looks great though l can appreciate the back pain problem.gproblem.good hot water bottle now.

To make it easier. Wet the dog and apply shampoo then spray a bit more water on the dog. Works every time. Also using a scrunchie to wash the dog is excellent.

Thanks so much guys! I'm going to try the squeeze bottle and the scrunchie. However, I think we will stay away from the mud for the next couple weeks lol. Btw...I think Ella's personality changes a little right after a bath, she seems to be feeling so confident and sassy today.

We have a sprayer that hooks to the shower. It has a pretty good setting that really helps get the fur wet.

Definitely diluting the shampoo helps a lot.

What dryer are you using? Some just don't have enough power. We usually towel dry, blow for a while, take a break, then do some more. (Well, that's what we did with Maggie - Ruby won't let me get within 50 feet of her with the dryer....)

I have a Show cattle blower, it blows small dogs off the table.... Dogs love it and it just lets the water fly off the dogs. Mine is not a hot blower, but very quick

I use a metro vac 400. I bought it 2 months ago and I don't care for it. The breeder recommended Chris Christensen, but it was 500.00. Well, I don't think any dryers would blow big Ella off the table, so maybe something more powerful, but still without heat would work better. Thanks!

Do a search on this site for K-9 III dryers. There have been lots of good posts and there is a site member that sells them. We have had ours for over 3 years now and love, love, love it!
