Any experience with one of these?

Brody's beloved water source aka garden hose is now stored for the winter. Brody is now on a drinking strike and won't touch his water bowl.

I'm thinking of buying him one of these but I don't know if his slobber will break it?

I had one for quite a while and really liked it....Unfortunately Gabriel was still a pup at the time and ate the plastic bottle one day.
I have actually been thinking about getting another one now that he's (somewhat) outgrown such shenanigans.
It is fairly easy to clean, and you can always run about half a tsp of bleach through it full of water and allow it to air dry thoroughly.

We have one that Charlie and our cat Mikka share, it works quite well, the drool doesn't gum it up too badly, it does get hair around the wheel in the motor, so we take it apart and scrub it out every 1-2 weeks. I fill the reservoir with ice and then top it off with cold water, so the water is usually pretty cold.

Have that exact one...except for the cats. ;)
You would have to clean it frequently with Newf use...probably daily. The pump gets hair wound around it.
It does hold a good amount of water though...I think it is one of the largest capacity out there.

Had one, wife hated it. Might work for one Newf. We had 4, it got very slobbery, besides empited fast with 4 drinking out of it. I liked it at first, but with 4 it was hard to keep up.

Well he's on day 2 now without the hose and he's starting to drink from his bowl. I've been filling it with fresh water constantly because you know, I've trained him to be a water snob.

Becky, I love your profile picture. How is sweet Ebony doing? Are you ready to turn her over to me yet?:)
Ebony is doing quite well! Thanks for asking about her!
I don't think you want her...her vet bills are horrendous. ;)
Plus Ross would be so sad, he loves her! Oh, yeh, we do too!! :) Although, maybe if you took Ross him and Brody would tire each other out!

What kind of bowl is he not drinking from? Kimber would only drink from plastic or ceramic bowls, never from stainless steel.

Poppy drinks from a bowl, but it must always be fresh. Water breaks means she stands in the kitchen and waits for me to dump the bowl, rinse it and refill it. I really don't blame her. I have seen what she does to her bowl. I definitely wouldn't drink out of it!

Good point.

New house rule is that everyone must freeze while Brody drinks so he doesn't get distracted. That way he can have a drink and I can immediately refill his bowl.

I swear we are a bunch of fools.

We had one, before I had a Newfi, it lasted okay, but the pump broke. Now we have a sensor on the outdoor tap so when the dog gets there it turns on, we put a big bowl under it too for the small dogs - its brilliant!

I just have to laugh at you guys! Henry is such a water snob and with multiple dogs in the family we always have to change the water dish so he can be the first to drink from the bowl.

I guess I may be lazy and wouldn't like to have to worry about cleaning all the parts. It looks like a good idea.....I just don't have the patience.
