Another Pet Store Newf

That's why I did the whole clarification thing. I've been to pretty much every pet store in the Niagara / Hamilton region here in Ontario, but can't vouch for other areas.

Your right Julie and I guess the big chains are smart enough up here to know how sensitive we are to this issue but some of the stores in Newmarket and the Woodbine Centre and maybe more still bring in puppies from mills. You have to wonder with all the exposure about puppy mills how the buying public can be duped over and over again.

My heart hurts, thinking of that little guy. I wish we could help him. We don't have the $$ or my husband would be taking a trip to Taunton. Robin you do make an excellent point.

Bethanne,

The public is duped because they make it sound like the pups are bred for them...I went to visit this pup today...if you check the other post about the pet store pup, you will see what happened...but they make it sound as if this dog was bred, had all the proper paperwork, and if someone does not do their homework, they don't realize that paper work only means the dog is a pure bred...and a breeder is only someone who breeds dogs. It does not differentiate between a good breeder and a bad breeder. I think people also assume that there are agencies that make sure this stuff does not happen. This poor pup is 3 mos old tomorrow, and a big dog in a not so big cage. He does have enough room, but he was so excited to be out and with us in the play area. It's just so sad. The sales lady had all the "right" answers for me. When questioned about his hips/heart I was told that he has been vet checked, all his paperwork was in order, and she is sure he had all the proper testing. He is even microchipped...makes it sound even better.

My heart just aches for this little guy. My other half asked me last night for details and I know he was hinting that we go get him, but we don't have the $$$ either right now. This just makes me heartsick. I hope someone comes soon and saves him.

If you really want him, why don't you go to the pet store and offer much less money for him?
I would imagine if Newf puppies stay in the pet store and start getting bigger (as they do :D ) it might not be advantageous for the pet store to stock them compared to the smaller breeds.
Just a thought

Judging by his size already, and his nippy temp.,the only person who is going to get this dog is someone who knows the news.
