Bethanne,
The public is duped because they make it sound like the pups are bred for them...I went to visit this pup today...if you check the other post about the pet store pup, you will see what happened...but they make it sound as if this dog was bred, had all the proper paperwork, and if someone does not do their homework, they don't realize that paper work only means the dog is a pure bred...and a breeder is only someone who breeds dogs. It does not differentiate between a good breeder and a bad breeder. I think people also assume that there are agencies that make sure this stuff does not happen. This poor pup is 3 mos old tomorrow, and a big dog in a not so big cage. He does have enough room, but he was so excited to be out and with us in the play area. It's just so sad. The sales lady had all the "right" answers for me. When questioned about his hips/heart I was told that he has been vet checked, all his paperwork was in order, and she is sure he had all the proper testing. He is even microchipped...makes it sound even better.
