I'll never cook one again. This is actually funny now but it wasn't at the time.I got a very large raw bone from the butcher. Not knowing any better I thought I would roast it for my Doberman,I did.Well he gnawed that bone for two weeks had it so white and clean but I felt sorry for him because I figured the end were full of nicely cooked marrow. So I get this idiots brainwave and decide to take it down to my work bench and take my dremel and open it up for him.Well I don't have words that I can use her for the stench when the dremel opened up the bone.It was like the smell of death I had it in my hair my clothes and the house stunk for days.So I won't cook another bone. But that's just me.LOL

Brinks happens to be licking a raw beef marrow bone as I type this. If I buy extra, I usually put them in the freezer and give him one. He buries it in a towel and then goes back for it later in the day or the next day.

I buy them by the dozen fresh from the butcher & freeze them. Bär then gets them right from the freezer. Nothing like a bonecycle on a hot day.

We give bones raw, always, but in Summer they might be frozen.......The dogs love them that way in Summer, Ronnie

ok. didn't know if I could give them frozen. might be a good idea for the pyrs. the bone might last more than 20 minutes then. LOL

Be careful if you have really strong chewers in giving frozen raw bones - being frozen might make the bones more brittle or easier to splinter for a really determined jaw cruncher.

I feed raw bones 2-3 times weekly along with frozen sardines (sardines are great frozen on hot days)!
