Another Day Off!

Thank you Mother Nature! The phone rang at 5:17 and we don't have school again today because of ice! I had already heard the salt trucks go up our road and was hoping for a 1 hour delay, but this is wonderful. Of course, I have to meet my mother at the eye specialist to check her macular degeneration later this morning, but a day off is a day off. Now, if I could just motivate myself to start grading all those papers that the students here in the States did while I was in Germany!

Have so much fun!! These days are a pleasure for teachers and children alike. The white stuff becomes magical at 5:17 in the morning, and yes, I realize this is the light side of what is a weather nightmare for many. We have not had one this year, and I am a sad sack about it, as are the kids!! Have a great day with your furkids!!

So then..how about just assigning yourself.. a percentage of the paper work to be done, set a time aside..and all other things you may enjoy on a snow day..be done for Fun! Actually..a bag of papers to work on..while waiting at the Drs..yup..enjoy the day, taking time for you..is always needful. :) ina n HB n Kesa

A few are always a treat, but too many YUK. In '62-63 when I taught in Watertwon, NY we had so many snow days (there were 8 planned in the calendar) that we had to make up 10 at the end of the year. However, in the ways of bureaucracies they collected textbooks on the regular schedule. Thus, after games, and stories and and and the last day I resorted to pails, scrubbers and soap. Had kids scrub all the desks and the walls they could reach. Principal walked by, looked in and said- "that's the most productive thing I've seen around here today". Well- what did they expect without books. :icon_stupid:
