Angus's Momma

Angus's real mom, Sweet Maple, died last week after a tragic accident, leaving 5 3-week old puppies. My friend and breeder is heartbroken. She was a beautiful, sweet 5 year old Newf. So one of Angus' little sisters is coming to live with us in a few weeks. I can't believe that lovely dog is gone. She had such a loving temperment. I wish there was something I could say to her owner to make it better, but only time will do--Anne

That is so tragic
One of my biggest fears is, what if Murphy ever got out of the back yrad and ended up in a street, getting hit by a car..the breeder much be at such a loss :( when the pups are 8 weeks old, you are going to take a female?? god for you, whats another newf in the house..Angus will be in heaven, and I'am sure you will be too

yes, Laurene. There were 4 girls in the litter, so a little sis it is. We're all looking forward to it. It seems right that Maple's little one will be with her big brother. It's tragic: in 19 years she's never had a Newf get out before. It's so sad. And I'm told the pups are crying a lot for their mom. I wish I could change things. It's so unfair.Anne

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's loss (and yours too). Those poor pups without a mommy!
Hopefully being around Angus and other newfies can help to socialize them. Please keep us informed as to how your new ward is doing.

I am so sorry to hear the tragic news! That just happened to a friend of mine too. Those poor pups! Can you contact the newf club in your area and see if there are any other nursing newfs close to you so the pups could have another week or two of nursing? The vets too may know of any other newfs with litters.

Anne - That is so sad. I have been looking at their website and the dogs are beautiful! You are lucky to be getting another one and I know Angus will love her! I will say a prayer for them because I am sure they are devastated.

Oh How sad. A few years ago my best friends shitzu had pups. She brought them up to my house one afternoon when they were 4 weeks old, with the mother. She had them in a basket. We sat in the yard and played with them and daisy the mom. They left and about a half an hour later, my friend pulled up in front of my house with this awful look on her face, she had just accidentlly ran the mother dog over in there driveway. We just stood in my front yard and cryed. I feel so bad when I hear stories like this. I will say a little prayer for them all.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Angus's momma, You are right though only time (lots of time) helps it hurt a little less. Let your friend know we are all thinking of her and though it is probably very difficult she needs to not do the coulda, woulda, shoulda. It does not change things and it blocks the ability to grieve.
I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of your new puppy
