AKC Raises Application Fee's

This was cross posted on my training clubs email list... Not sure of all the actual details, am feeling rather apalled by this:

Application fees for obedience is going from $25 to $50. Rally is
going from $25 to $100. Agility is up to $100 from I think $35.
This is per each event. If 2 days of rally are held, that's $200.

It is before the AKC Board to determine on whether or not to lower
these fees due to smaller clubs not being able to afford this
additional cost. Please join and let AKC know that you are
adamantly opposed to these increased fees! Hopefully they will
listen."

Annie, is this the fee the club pays to have the event, or is this what we pay to enter the event as exhibitors.
oh duhhh
ok so this is whatthe clubs pay wich in turn will pass on higher entry fees to us.

These are Application fees for a club to hold a trial.

Considering the amount of money that is brought in from these events, and the fees have not been raised since 1925, the increase is not that out of line. No, I don't like anytime a fee is raised but the reality is EVERYTHING is going up in price. Rally and Agility have A LOT of entries making the host clubs a lot of money that the AKC does not get, even though its sanctioning it.

Show/Trial License Fees The Board reviewed a staff memo on license fees. Show/trial license fees were last increased in 1925, when the fee was set at $50 for licensed all-breed shows and $25 for Specialties and all trials. In today’s dollars, the $50 fee in 1925 is equal to approximately $583. Inflation and rising expenses have greatly increased AKC’s costs. Following a motion by Mr. Menaker, seconded by Mr. Goodman, it was VOTED (unanimously) to increase the conformation and companion events show/trial license fees for licensed events effective for all events held on or after January 1, 2008. The increases are as follows:

Designated Specialty Show $15
