A Wonderful Organization During A Terrible Time

Hi All

We just had the honor of meeting a member of one of the most compassionate volunteer groups out there. Hopefully you will never need their services, but if you or a family member ever does, they are a godsend. Friday night my nephew and his wife had a baby boy and not all is well. Their son was born with a nonoperable heart disorder as well as severe brain damage and the doctors at Childrens Hosp in St Louis have said there is nothing they can do and this sweet little guy has anywhere from a day or so to possibly a week or so. During this terrible time for my nephew and his wife, a volunteer photographer from an organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep came in and took TONS of pics of my newest little nephew, him with his Mom and Dad, him getting a bath, with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunts and Uncles etc. This photographer was there for several hours recording images of a life that will be gone before it even begins. He gave my nephew and his wife, as well as the rest of our family a treasure that we would never have gotten a chance to have otherwise. I had never even heard of them, but they volunteer their time and services, as well as the photos and all related costs to provide a beautiful remembrance of a life too short for the family that is left behind. These are not your normal hospital baby pictures, but beautiful, poignant photos of moments in the life of this baby and his family.Their services are available for anyone suffering a stillbirth, as well as for newborns who are not expected to live past 28 days.
Several of us tried to donate to the photographer himself, but he directed us to their organizations website to make donations. Cant remember the name of the website, but typing "Now I lay me down to sleep photography" in GOOGLE brings up the site and also a seachable database of all participating photographers in any given area.
I cant think of many things harder, or more worthwhile, than the work this organization does.
And I also noticed when looking at the site, that it includes some of the best photographers in this area....it reaffirms my belief that at heart most people are good.

What an incredible blessing these folks provide. Please pass our heartfelt sympathies to your nephew and family. It always amazes me how people can grab at someones heart just by doing something as a "gift".
