Hey guys, my Newfie girl is just about to be 5 months old.
She is weighing in at 48 pounds. We currently feed her Purina One Lamb and rice adult food chow 2 and a half cups twice a day. And I throw some yogurt in everyonce and a while.
I'm worried that this might be to much food and she might be over weight.

Also she just started losing her teeth and shedding her puppy fur. Is that normal too?
Thanks,

What do her ribs feel llike. Too prominent not enough food, having to dig in to feel ribs too fat.

Sounds about normal on loosing coat so she may look a bit weird for a bit

As a general rule a newf should weigh 10 lbs for every month of age. So at 48 lbs at 5 months she 'should' be fine but some dogs vary. The only way to really tell is to put your hands on her and feel her ribs. You should be able to feel the ribs but not the spine.

At 5 months she sounds normal weight...I still feed my 6 month old puppy 2 cups 3 times per day...so she is getting 6 cups of food. Shedding the puppy fur is normal also...
