to our newfie picnic tomorrow! It will be over at Bellows Beach (Hawaii). Not sure if any of you watched Magnum PI when it was on but we will be having it at that place where they filmed it. The owner of the house/property is Eve Anderson and I must say the property is just beautiful. We expect a good turnout. Got lots of RSVP's this week. Just got done making goodie bags for the newfies. I'll take lots of pictures and try to post a couple of them. If anyone is interested, 'cmon over

I would love to come...but it would involve a seriously long flight and a lot of money, coming over from Australia!

Have a wonderful picnic and post a review here when it's all over!

Well sheesh, how about a little warning next time. Not expecting to have to go anywhere this weekend I told my pilot to go ahead and have the Gulfstream's enginges worked on. So unfortunately we won't be able to make it this time.

LOL, sorry for the last minute notice. Wish you guys could of all been there. It was so much fun. Even got to meet Malia's neice for the first time. She is Malia's sister's puppy...all the way from Australia. The owner got her from the same breeder as we did. The newfs had tons of fun swimming in the ocean. There were a few puppies there that were a bit leary of the water. Our next event will be a grooming day in October.

Theresa...
which breeder in Australia are you talking about? Just wondering becasue I live there.
Is it one in Tasmania? I'm in Victoria. I just know that a breeder in Tasmania ships out GORGEOUS Newfs from time to time.

Yes, they are in Tazmania. The kennel name is Newfashion Kennels and the breeder is Ian Harland. There were two breeders here in the islands. Now there is only one. To get a newfie, we would of had to fly one in from the mainland. Because we have strict quarantine laws, I didn't want to go that route. The animal has to stay in quarantine for 4 months. Now there is a 30 day thing but you have to do it just right and it takes very careful planning (a year in advance). Dogs that come from Australia don't have to go through quarantine.

That's who I was talking about Theresa! My girl isn't from there but I sure would love one that is. I've sen some BEAUTIFUL bronzes that they have bred (photos only - it's not too often you see a real live Newf around here...except for at my house...probably the same with you!)

That's funny about the quarantines, I guess because Australia doesn't have any rabies or anything, they are VERY strict over here about quarantines. From what I know any animals coming in here have to be quarantined for 6 months. (I could be wrong on that though).

Because Australia has such strict quarantine laws and don't have problems with rabies, that's why the animals comming from there don't need to go to quarantine here. Infact, now the airlines will only let you bring an animal over here from Australia through a shipper. I thought it was a rip off because they charge so much. But I guess they've had problems where something wasn't done correctly and unfortunately some animals ended up in quarantine. LOL, we still have the containers that our newfies arrived in. They look so small.

Theresa,

had a look at Newfashion's webpage again because I was sure last time I was there I'd seen a photo of one of their pups that went to Hawaii...just the other day it clicked that this was you and Malia! And also Boomer!

I saw the very gorgeous photos on there and now have a face to go with the names! (Of you and your dogs, that is!)

Boy they breed beautiful dogs...I'm hanging out to get a bronze one day. It won't be for years though, so I'll just have to keep dreaming!

LOL, glad you liked the photo. Everytime I watch the "Crocodile hunter" on Animal Planet, I think of where our newfies are from...especially when they show Tazmania.
