I feel for you as I know how frustrating this must be for you. This could be an anxiety problem and not physical. Has she exhibited any other "fears" lately? I know from experience, if a newf is afraid..it is VERY hard to get them to co-operate. Good luck. I hope you can find out what her problem is so you can work on solving it. Please keep us posted.

if a newf is afraid, you must think of ways to outfox them !

it is kinda cool to try different techniques and than patience also, together, letting them mature a bit more and than something clicks and they are fine!
But they also are very smart and, if they can take advantage of a situation, they will!
hopefully the Vet also checks her knees and does an xray of her neck and spine to be sure she doesnt have any fusion going on that could cause pain when doing steps.

Got a call from the vet this morning. Her bloodwork came back fine, except for the thyroid test. Keira has very low thyroid levels, one of the tests they could barely detect the level. She's going to start medication, today if I can get to the vets with this ice, and will be rechecked in 1 month. I don't know if some of this could be causing behavioral issues, ie the stairs, but I'm going to postpone x-raying her hips until we get this other thing straightened out. The ramp is down a little lower so she has to walk up 2 stairs now. When my husband gets back from her nightly walk in the woods, she runs from the gate, right up the ramp on her own to get to her food. Other times, as soon as I put the leash on and give her a little nudge, she goes up. First things first, we'll get the thyroid levels up and see what happens. Thanks everyone again.
