YES!!!! I won a copy on EBAY a month or so ago, and just finished it. It's a wonderful book... very moving, and uplifting. It's well written, and I felt like I was right there, a member of Karen's wonderful family. Newfs play a big role, but not a major role. I can't wait to hear how you like it. Stock up on kleenex... and be prepared to laugh out loud several times.

It's WONDERFUL!

Can someone tell me the author of this book please? and what year it was published? I have been trying to find it at the library but nothing comes up under 'with love from Karen' and there IS a book called 'Karen' but it was published in 1999 and I don't think it is the right one. (It is always out).

Thanks in advance!

I loved this book! I think I read it when I was in 5th or 6th grade. That was the first time I'd ever heard of the Newfoundland breed and the minute I read about them I knew I would have one (or 2 or 3 or 4...
) someday! I can't remember for sure, but wasn't "With Love from Karen" the second book? I know I read two books about her. I think the first one was called "Karen" but I'm not positive. I agree with Annie, newfs didn't play a huge role in the book, but it was obviously enough of a role to get me interested and keep me thinking about the breed for the 12 years between reading the books and starting my search for a puppy!

I haven't read either one since I was a kid. I'm jealous you got a copy. Congrats, and enjoy!

You're right, Kelli... the first book was called Karen. As for getting a copy, just keep checking Ebay.... you shouldn't have too much trouble picking up a paperback copy. Also, check out Newf Emporium and/or Pet Impressions. I know that they occasionally have hardback copies, and may even occasionally have a paperback copy!!!

I still have my copies that I read when they were published and sold through Scholastic Books. They have a place in the Newf shelf in the office.

The other kool thing is that I too had a Little Bear newf, Murphy, at the same time Karen did.

Glad to see that you are all seeking Marie Killilea's books out. They always have been special to me.
