Kinda quiet here so thought I'd post a little.

I haven't been talking about it recently - cause I figured there really wasn't much to say. But Khiori is still have many seizures and is now on two kinds of anti-epileptic drugs so we can try to gain some kind of control over it. (click my sig if you want to know more about what we've been dealing with) She's due for her next seizure on Sunday or Monday.

Since there isn't a whole lot I can *fight* in this (meaning - no one to blame, no laws to be made, etc) I've decided to stop 'beating the air'... Next Wednesday I'll be doing a small cable show in our area (about 15-25K veiwers) and will talk about K9 epilepsy. I'm getting a little nervous, but I can't wait to do it. I feel that the more ppl I can help, the more I can talk about it, the more I feel like I am doing *something* to help.

Wish me luck!

Good Luck!! It is wonderful to see someone reaching out to help enlighten the general public on dog disorders. I have many customers that cannot believe that a dog can have the same health problems as humans--seizures, diabeties, and heart problems (to name a few) Although I do a know a lady whose dog had heartworms and after reading the symptoms she thought she had gotten them from her dog and was going to have it put to sleep

If you help one person or dog it is worth all your time and effort.

Wow! Good for you!

While I have no problem speaking in front of people (I actually like it), many do not. Good luck in your endeavor, and I'm sure you'll do fine.

You're doing this from the love of your Khiori - you've got the skill in your knowledge and willingness to help. You'll do great - I guarentee it!

And besides, if David Arquette can make it on TV (That annoying 1-800-collect guy), anyone can!

You'll do great, I'm sure, Rachel! The first time I did a show, it was a LIVE nationwide broadcast and I was terrified. The host really made it easy. I just spoke to HIM, and we had a conversation. Simple!!
Guess I did OK, as they had me back. You're really providing a valuable service, telling people how to cope with a dog with epilepsy. I'm sure many are put down, as people don't think they can deal with it. You can really help them a lot!
Good luck! Make sure you let us know how it goes.

Good Luck, Rachel! I would be losing sleep over this speaking engagement (even though it is for a very good cause)! I'm sure you will do a fantastic job! From all the canines in the world who will benefit from your broadcast - THANK YOU and break a leg!!

Sara (I'd be SO nervous!)
Ozzy (Aw, Mom - you can do anything!!)

Hi Rachel,
I think you will just fine on the cable show. I did go to your site and found it wonderful, you seemed to make it a calm place despite the nature of the subject.
Let us know how you do.

PS I loved the picture of Khiori and Solo too.

Thank you everyone!! I'm getting over my nervousness as I prepare my talk. I know I will not have nearly enough time to say all I want to, so I'm condensing it to the most important things. (to teach those who don't know about k9 epi, to show those just starting with epi dogs they can still do things, and encourage those aware to participate in genetic studies)

Also, you should see all the props I've got lol! (weekly pill dispenser, dog tag with med history, snow saucer for moving a seizing dog, seizure logs, etc)

Ha ha! I was printing up a bunch of submission forms for the genetic study yesterday when my printer started spewing plastic parts out.\

Anyway, I'll let you all know how it turns out!
