Hello All,
Maybe someone can offer some pearls of wisdom or just tell me that this is the usual and customary practice when using a breeder and following proper patience procedures
I put a deposit on our pup in March, visited the kennel, met some pups and dogs. Fell in love with one in particular and was told the litter he was fathering was due in a few months if I wanted to wait(rather than take a pup from the current litter) The next litter is here and there is only one male. Now I am told that it was promised, but there are three others from another litter and there is one from the original litter. Intellectually I realize that it is not always a given that you will get a pup but I have to admit I am a touch heartbroken. And again, my family thinks I am nuts for crying over a pup that was never mine. One of the reasons I chose this breeder was her kennel is within driving distance and I could actually see the dogs. I have not seen the father of this second litter but the mother is at her kennel.
Am I being irrational? Is my inexperience showing? Should I go see the new litter and see how it goes? Now I feel guilty that the original litter still has a pup left but we are not prepared for a pup today. We were prepared for a pup in the next 8 to 12 weeks.
My head hurts, I'm gonna go have a glass of wine to go with my whine.
Somebody set me straight.
As always, thank you for your opinions/insight
J
