My lil grey girl Madison turned 1 last week! Today she went into heat...swollen and showing blood. My question is, will she get cramps? I know weird right, but she has been so snuggly today I was wondering if she isn't feeling good.

Sorry, no experience. We had all of our girls fixed too early. Before we joined the forum and got our education. :shuffle:

We allowed Emma to go through 2 heats before getting spayed (last week) but whenever she was approaching (or in..) heat, she got very clingy/snuggly. I actually enjoyed it.

Our experience is/was just like you guys...more of a love, then Myra had a false pregnancy and went overboard with love and cuddles and hoarding of stuffies-lol

Normal. Can get very snuggly, clingy and affectionate. She needs to be watched now and not let out by herself and separated from any intact dogs. Some will do anything to get to intact dog when in standing heat.

When Lucy came in heat, she'd desperately search for boys. She went so far as to flip the cats over, to check out their equipment. LOL We never took her outside without first checking to be sure the yard was clear of suitors, and then she was always leashed.

Morgan gets the same way and she's almost 2. Her last heat caused us to go to the ER Vet because she was crying on and off all day. Couldn't find a thing wrong with her and she started her heat the next day. Thinking it was cramps?

Gilly's been whining a lot lately, but acting completely normal otherwise. She just seems to want attention - I hope it's hormonal and not something 'serious'.
