Hi I'm Susie from CT. I will be getting my newf puppy in 4 weeks (can't wait). What should I be looking for in a dog food? I don't want corn as the 1st ingredient right? I have been reading in this forum you guys feed your babys people food. I thought this was bad.

hi,

Folks here feed their dogs different brand names of food, but here's a few things to look for

1. the food is human grade
2. protein is 23 or less and fat 12 or less
3. food that has been baked
4. no corn fillers, instead look for barley, brown rice.
5. the ingredients listed on the packaging are in order by amounts, the first ingredient being the most used and so on down the list. Look for healthy ingredients in the first 7 items.

That's all i can think of, i'm sure there's more... My personal favorite is Wellness by Old Mother Hubbard

We use Wellness for Brady as well. We made the mistake of giving him Eukanuba for puppies, I sure wish I had known about this forum before we got him. But he is doing very well with the Wellness (adult not puppy).
Good luck and welcome to your new little guy.
