My parents sell pet food (although Sam is on a raw diet), and it is my understanding that a pet food company has 6 months from the time they change the formula until they have to change the label. I hope you find the answer...these allergies are hard enough to deal with without knowing exactly what's in the food...and people food isn't great about it either.
Oh, and technically changes could have been made without even affecting the ingredient list... Ingredients are only listed according to the most down to the least. If there is a higher percentage of chicken than any other ingredient, and it is 35% chicken, they could lower the chicken to 25% and still leave it as the first ingredient as long as no other single ingredient was more than 25%. Does that make sense? And even though chicken may be the first ingredient, it may not actually be what there is the most of. If the label lists chicken, wheat, white rice, carrots, beef, brown rice, for example, you may actually be getting MORE rice overall than chicken. There are a some definite labeling "loopholes"
