Well it happened

Basically my Chase cannot hear anymore. She can only hear if I really yell loud or Gary whistles. So now I have to walk up and touch her. Otherwise she is in good health. She gets around very well. Her hind end is still strong enough to squat and push herself up. She can also still get up easily. She never misses a meal. I guess hearing loss is easier to deal with than other senior newf problems.

Sorry to hear that, but glad she is otherwise healthy. It's great that her mobility is still so good!

Her brother Elwood can hear, he just doesn't listen! He had lar par surgery and a tumorectomy a few years back and despite getting weak in the rear he's doing great for an old man!

I think maybe Chase didn't feel good last week or something. She seems to hear just fine the past few days. This is good.

One of our Labs lost her hearing, and we taught her hand signals, not knowing that we actually taught them all (five at the time) hand signals. It has come in so handy that I use them today with our rescue non-Newf, Daisy. She learned to look for me standing in a certain place in the yard and signaling when I wanted her to come in. In the house, we touched, or she watched what the others did. It really wasn't a problem.
