Waving wildly from the Southern California Mountains

Just thought I'd "officially" post my introduction. I'm sure some of the older members here remember me - but I've taken a sort of a break for the past two years. Anyway - I'm Rachel. Got my first newfie when I was 4 years old. I think I must have been raised by them as we had three on different occasions as I was growing up. Nani the first. Blu the second (and the one who was the one to "raise" me lol) Then LuLu who was the epitome of sweetness in newfie. Gah, she was a dear and I'll never forget her. She died last when I was 14.

I finally grew up (snicker) and got my first doggie as an adult, Khiori who is in my avatar. She tragically died at 2.5 years old. I would have died for her, I loved her so. When she was about 1 1/2 years old we got SoloDancer, my male Landseer. I can't say enough good things about him. He's such the sweet guy. I'll spare all the gushiness but suffice it to say that I'm proud of him. When Khiori died, Solo and I pined away for her. I was given the opportunity to rescue a feral collie/aussie shep mix who was seven months old and just recovered from parvo. What was I thinking? lol - he's the neatest guy alive. I swear. Never a better cure for saddness than my little Leo. Half a tail and nose for adventure, he's really wiggled his way into our lives. I gotta wonder though. How can a feral dog from the deserts of Arizona be such a loving and proper puppy? I think he had a little girl in his past though. He tends to want to play with dolls and baby bottles
Shhhh, don't tell him I told ;)

Welcome back! Even though I am relatively new here, I do remember some of your posts and it is nice of you to post the pictures of your beautiful dogs and taking the time to tell us about your wonderful childhood pets.

Linda, does no one go to chat anymore? It's been such a very long time I've been there.

Rachel,

I was thrilled to see you come back "to the fold"!!! You were such a wonderful friend to have during Sadie's illness... we lost our babies within weeks of each other. So sad, but time does help the healing process!!!

Annie, I was thinking the same thing. I recall there were about five or six people who will be forever in my heart because of the extra mile they went when Khiori died (and throughout her illnesses - cruciate and epi). You are one

. . . which is why GAD better not shut down NewfNet!
;)
