Water Loving

It's no surprise how much our furry companions how much our dogs love water. And I mean LOVE. I've actually used water as a reward while training Teddy because he loves it so much. But I think it's funny how shocking this is to others.

The other day I was out all day doing some training for a new job, and one of my friends volunteered to check on my dogs for me. He let them out to go potty and then put out some water. He called me and asked, "Uh... is Teddy okay? I've never seen any creature consume so much water in one sitting. This is ridiculous!"

Needless to say, I couldn't stop laughing.

One of the trainers I went to for basic obedience started giving me flyers on the dangers of water intoxication. Taver is a water dog, bowl, puddle, pool, lake, ocean it's all awesome! He used to nap snuggling with his bowl.

Do you actually withhold water.....i personally don't like withholding water

I "withhold" water all the time
Yesterday we went to a dog friendly brewery. I got Taver a small bowl of water, he drank some then played in the rest, making a lovely puddle. Some helpful folks went and got him another bowl full with ice cubes. He dumped that and laid down and played with the ice. For some reason the ever helpful folks decided he needed yet another bowl. I had to step in and stop this before his puddle grew to massive proportion. If I thought for one moment he was thirsty I'd certainly keep it coming.
