Water Bowl

Does anyone have a favorite indoor water bowl or device? Our kitchen floor stays wet and also the outdoor mulch is mostly indoors thanks to Bailey!

When Annie was a pup, I got one of those camping/travel water bowls - large storage area but very small water bowl area. It really helped keep the mess down, while making sure she had water at all times. (They look like a gallon container with a small outlet - available through most catalogs or petco type outlets.)
Now I keep a stainless steel water bowl in a towel-lined kitty litter pan in my kitchen. My 3 dogs can slurp water and most of their mess is absorbed by the towel, which is easy to pull out and wash.
I am always looking for the lazy way!

We use a plaster bucket outdoors. Indoors the raised stand with a stainless bowl. But Brady is always "dripping"

We put the water bowl in the basement. By the time they get upstairs, well at least some has dripped off. Just keep the towels handy. Oh, I keep a towel under the water bowl so all the drops are soaked up right away.

I keep the water/food bowls on top of a plush rug, like a bathmat-style thing. It's a really good way to absorb *lots* of water (as I found out when Bunny and Teddy were playing tag and knocked the water bowl over) plus it's machine-washable. And I just wipe his face after he drinks.

Has anyone ever used one of those "waterhole"-type water dishes? It's advertised as being spillproof and drip-reducing. It basically looks like an normal plastic water bowl except it's totally enclosed expect for a hole on top... kinda like a doughnut-hole. I think it's on petsmart.com and petco.com. I guess it's drip-reducing because the dog has to drink more slowly or something?!??

Caroline, are you thinking of the Buddy Bowl? If so, I had one for Kodi when he was a puppy since he was always tipping the bowl. The concept is great, you won't lose any water from the bowl, but when Kodi finished drinking, there was always a water trail left behind. Paper towels and slobber towels are a must in our home
In fact, I've got a slobber towel next to his water dish and lately he's been grabbing it after drinking his water, therefore, he's wiping his own mouth.

We use a non skid stainless bowl.... and in the car, we have flat sided stainless steel buckets that we clip on to their crates. Sailor's is cliped on to the outside of one of the girl's crates.

Sailor came with a platform feeder, that has plastic bowls. He's really connected to the bowls. I tried feeding him from another bowl and he wasn't into it. I really want to get him converted to stainless... I really feel its best.

On a side note, while picking food up at petsmart the other night, I saw the coolest thing. it was a feeder that held two bowls.

The "stand" was actually a resevoir that holds fresh water. The bottom of the water bowl was like a fine colander. When you lift it up, it would strain out all the goop that seems to collect in the bottom of the bowl. You can rinse it off, put it back, and the water would be fresh... not contaminated.

I love this concept. We tried one of the water bowls with the 5 gallon bottle attaced... we thought it would be great at the lake, on our deck. but the dogs didn't like it, because they prefer a clean bowl.

The only bad thing about the bowl I saw at Petsmart was that it was ..... PLASTIC. I'd buy it in a heart beat if they made one in stainless.... which shouldn't be too hard to do!!!

Funny you mention the drip towels. I bought 18 face cloths today at Walmart because I am tired of running out of towels. Brady now waits for me to wipe his mouth after eating, but as far as the water goes he prefers someones pant leg.
