The color will be landseer.

thanx everyone, i will let you know as soon as things start rolling along, i am having to feed her small amounts every few hours, she is content and comfy and doing well.
she OWNS the fan i have on the floor! LOL
i will be cleaning her up soon, clipping her belly and privates and giving her a good brushing, there is no way she will fit in my tub.
i wanted to bathe her, maybe if we have a nice sunny day i will do her outdoors.

whew ten puppies all at once  . Is that an unusually large litter for a newf? How big are the puppies normally at birth? Have you ever had such a large litter before? I'm a rookie dog owner and I'm really interested in all of this. Will you have to keep aclose eye on the situation to make sure all the pups are getting fed properley or are the mothers usually pretty good. Is this your dogs first litter? Sorry to ask so many questions and I hope you have time to answer. Sounds like your going to have quite a busy fall.

here a newfie, there a newfie, every where a newfie newfie... 10 babis all at once.. Obviously the Lord has blessed you with an amazing ability to ward of sleep deprovation... Just be sure to nap as much as you can now.
I would say the 16th (this gives you 14 more days of sleep) 7 girls 3 boys... if there is one hiding, it is a boy... just like a man.
Can't wait to hear the out come..
:D

i will try to answer the questions.
first, morgans 2nd litter was 9 pups, 2 died.
no this is normal sized litter. the size of a normal newf newborn can be anywhere from 1 lb to 2 lbs some even 3 lbs from what i have heard.
This is penny first litter herself, and yes we need to keep a very close eye on them,if any cry when eating it can be a sign they are not getting the milk. than they must be supplimented.
most newborns loose weight the first day or two so we have to weigh them each day to keep track.
i had a pup out of our first litter that was bottlefed and we fed him every 2 to 3 hours. he kept loosing weight on me and after a call to the vet we did what he told us and he is alive and well.
I am not worried about penny becouse on the 3rd day of morgans last litter, morgan let penny in the box to clean and check on the pups, she was very agile and very very careful with them and truly loved them

Rory was out of a litter of 11, the last stillborn. Rory was the first born. (And bloody well acted like it too, for the first year of her life! :D )

I think she was around 1 kilo at birth (2.2lbs)...I'd have to check the paperwork the breeder gave us to be sure but from memory, around that.

10 would be so much work! But breeding in general is so much work! I could never do it. Rory's breeder was only on her 2nd litter and was inexperienced but had a couple of good mentors (although in hindsight, knowing all I know now, probably wouldn't buy from her again...but I'd happily buy from the mentor!). She took the 9 weeks they were at home off work & slept on the couch in the lounge to be near them...breeding requires SO much dedication! It's not for me to ever do, but I'm so thankful for the good breeders that take on that huge task!
