Wahl Switchblade Accessories

I have a Wahl switchblade with a #10 blade. I'd like buy some combs to attach, but nothing too short. Mfr seems to recommend using #30 blade with comb attachments. I won't be using often, just on Boaz's long belly hair, I'm thinking 1" or 7/8" comb.

Do I need to get the #30 blade for occasional use?

Thanks!

No you don't really need a 30 blade. I mostly use a #10 with comb attachments. However if the coat is thick or the comb is not gliding through the coat I'll switch to a #40 blade. The closer the cut on the blade the easier the comb attachment will go through. The blade does not effect the length the comb leaves the coat.

It does depend on the coat. I use a 10 with the comb to thin Gabriel's tush and chest. Hannah's coat is so dense I have found the 10 doesn't work too well, and I use the 40. Same comb for both dogs....1 1/2".
I have never found a reason to need a #30 blade.

Thanks ladies. Now I want to know where I can get a 1-1/2" comb! The sites only show sizes up to 1" comb for my clipper. Are there other brands with larger sizes that would fit? A 7/8" or 1" might be fine for this use, but it would be nice to have options.

I got mine at Sally Beauty Supply. It's a "people" one, obviously, but works just the same as the ones made for dog grooming...
I've had it for several years. Not sure if they still make this length, but you can check at Sally's....

Any brand of comb will fit as they fit the blade not the clipper. BTW the 1 1/2 will clip shorter than the 1. The number does not represent how long it will leave the coat. Here is how they line up 0, 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 3, 4. I also have a large set that clips longer but they go by letters.
