Ok. Life as always is complicated. I have to drive 4 hours to a funeral on Saturday and I've got a home visit Sunday. And it's a holiday weekend.

Check out this website. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/VA61.html. Look at Yvonne. She's 3 months old. Has all her baby teeth. She's got big bone. Her ticking looks like my landseers. On a 5.3inch person, her back hits her knees. roughly springer size. Very striking looking dog. She was dropped off in the night box. She's got a put down date of Tuesday. It is thought that Chelsea is her litter mate as they were both found in the box in the morning. Chelseas shot is a bad angle. She is as big as Yvonne. Barbe said it woudln't be easy to pick either of them up and cuddle them they're so big already. Both have good personalities. They were a bt traumatized after being dumped in the box, but now they both come bebopping up to the kennel front to give kisses and hugs.

Heather may be able to pull them. I'll know later. I don't know if she can foster them, which means plan "b" is needed. We need to get them up 81 through Gaitherburg, and over to NJ. Sunday or Monday. Failing that, they need another foster home closer.

Anybody got any ideas or a hand in the air?

That looks so much like Baoth did but we found out most likely he was a Newf/Pyr mix from a local breeder who mixed them on purpose to dupe people.

Now, see, i just dont' get mixing newfs and pyrs. A pure newf is worth sooo much more money than a pyr. With a mix, you can't do akc. They look too much alike to create a new look. Their temperaments are completely opposite.

i just dont' get the point, though I know there are several commercial breeders in Mo, ky, and Al that are deliberately doing it.

Just don't get the logic.

This guy passed them off as pure Newfs and bred everything in sight. Even had an un-neutered Rott in with an unspayed female... M any have tried to get him shut down and have but he reopens quicker then you can blink. It is a shame.

Well, the breeders i know of arent' passing them off as anything but newf pyr mixes. At least lying makes sense.

Good news. Thanks to networking, a va rescue is taking Yvonne. Her sister Chelsea is going to a rescue in the greater DC area. The shelter is closed Satruday Sunday and Monday, but they will open for rescue to pull on Saturday.

Best

Well you're ahead of me Holly. I saw Yvonne yesterday when they only had the picture of her against the fence. I thought she was an irish spot so I left a message for CNC rescue this morning and called Rustburg trying to get more info from the humane society or the facility.

Let me know if you need transport help. I had thought about trying to go down to Rustburg Saturday to see Yvonne if needed.

Ok. I've got the three lab pups pulled and goign to a rescuee. The newf x is pulled and going to rescue. The sister is goign to another rescue.

One hitch in the get along. Sunday, we need help with the run between Charleston, va and Hagerstown MD.

Anyone got any ideas? Three 3 month old lab pups. Straight from a shelter. Goign to rescue. Will be neutered at rescue. No time to do more. This is one of those 24 hour notice rescues.

I should have just stopped wiht the newf mix, but I couldnt' see these babies going down tuesday am when there was a rescue for them. <sigh>

First off, I am in total admiration of all of you who do this and sacrifice so much of your time for such a wonderful cause.

But here's my question ... why in the world would a shelter be on the verge of putting down 3-month old lab pups? I thought puppies were in high demand from shelters? I don't get it, I guess.

Anyway, thanks to you , Holly, they are safe now.

Demand is relevnt to where you livee.

I was too late for a newf mix puppy in Ky. Looked like an oversized flatcoat. They put her down before I got through. They have, however, A zillion of the most adorable puppies you've ever seen all looking at put down Tuesday.

I'm planning on saving a couple if I can. Even if they arent' newfs.

Holly -

There's a group called the underhound railroad that transports dogs across America (from WV to IN, OH, IL, etc)... send me a PM and maybe they can help put you intouch with others who would foster.

I did a leg of the Underhound a few months ago - ended up with Zeus and mouthy brat on Clomicalm who otherwise is a cutie-patootie...

Let me know - hate, hate, hate seeing pups put down (or any others for that matter).

If people who just spay/neuter.... ugggghhh.
