trying to post pics

Hi, Everyone!
I'm BRAND new to digital photography, and am fairly computer challenged. I've read the pic posting tutorial, and am trying to follow as best as I can. I've uploaded pics to my computer via card reader. I created my pics folder in my documents/my pictures. I have an Olympus camera, which came with Camedia and Adobe Photoshop software. Per Gad's tutorial, I'm supposed to download images to Adobe Photoshop software package, then save original images under new file with new file name, BEFORE downsizing image resolution to "web-usable" size(Gad recommends 600 pixels width or heigth, depending on image orientation). I tried "saving as", and next window that pops up is "jpeg options", which really confused me. Any suggestions/help as to how to proceed? I'd really like to try to post some of the pics I've taken of Suki, and share with you, if possible. Many thanks, and 'sorry for my "ig'nance"!

Hi Geoff: I am sorry but I will be of no help to you. I just wanted to say that you are a much better person than I am. I read the instructions on how to post pictures and unlike you, I quit before I started! LOL It sounds like you are very close....my hats off to you!

Thanks, Carrie!
I finally figured it out, thanks to Gad's suggestions. It really wasn't that hard--trust me, if I can do it, you can too!

Being almost computer illiterate, I was trying to learn how to run before learning how to walk...but by slowly walking through Gad's tutorial on posting pics, and with Gad's suggestions on how to handle the jpeg options window, I was able to get Suki's pics posted! Thanks again for the kind comments; please try again with your's--I'd love to see your pics! Take care.

Yes, I too am sitting on a gold mine of pictures that I just can't seem to post. I have read and read the tutorial, but it may as well be written in a foreign language!!

I am such a nerd that I'm NOT EVEN a computer nerd.

Well, just for the record, Newman is a BEAUTIFUL 11 month old solid black newf that is about 120lbs. And of course he is into everything. (Can ya'll picture him yet? Isn't he gorgeous?)

shawn

Oh, by the way, Amy has gotten pictures of him and she will contest that his is as beautiful as I say.

Shawn - feel free to ask any specific questions you may have about the process either here or in email to me.

This is a very helpful place. We've all had to learn at one time or another, and I've never seen anyone here ever made fun of for asking.

C'mon in - the water's great!

Shawn: I can picture Newmie. He's stunning! (and he has a loaf of bread in his mouth...hmmm.)
If you (or anyone else for that matter) like, email me some of the pics and I can post them for you until you feel more comfortable making the effort yourself.

Geoff: I can't quite put my finger on why, but I have to say that your posts to me reflect a very sweet, geniune person.
Just felt the need to express that to ya! I'm zooming over to see the pics you posted right after this period (.). *zoooom*

P.S. GAD you rock!

(Hmmmm, I shouldn't reply to posts with a caffeine buzz.) *still zooooooming*

Hi Miyax!

That was very kind of you to say...I'm just like all of you good folks out there, sharing a common love for an uncommon creature, the Newfoundland. When I was a kid growing up in an small apartment with my family on Russian Hill in San Francisco, my sister bought an AKC dog breed book. My sister and I would spend hours reading up on all of the breeds! In the end, she decided she wanted a beagle when she grew up and had her own home, and I was sold on this incredible giant, gentle dog that had volumes of stories and accounts written of his(her) natural lifesaving instincts and countless acts of rescue and heroism. And guess what? My sister ended up with a beagle, and Suki is my second newfie!

Thanks again, Miyax! Take care.

OMG Geoff! When I was 9, I was obsessed with the World Book Encyclopedia dog section. I studied each dog and was really drawn to the Newfoundland (and Saint Bernard) and have always wanted one since. I did have a St. Bernard stuffed animal though. ('Michie'

And I will be bringing a Newf home soon!

Hey! I should have my Mom send Michie (he now resides in the hall closet in NY
) and he and my Newf can meet!!!
Won't that be cool?! (ok, I'm 1/4 cornball...but I think it would be neat!)

Well HPond, if your newf turns out anything like Misha or Quark for that mather(see the pictures today), I'm afraid your St Bernard might come to a fast and painful end
or at least deformation. Although I'm qite sure your newf would love Michie!

Michie is on his way!
(yes I know...we're talking about a stuffed animal)...Good thinking Mirjam---I'll have to keep a very close eye on those two!

When I was in the sixth grade I was staying with my Aunt in Pennsylvania. She would take her Brittany Spaniel to dog shows. I grew up with hunting Labs. I saw two giant, furry "labs" at the show and was hooked! I too scoured the World Book Encyclopedia dog section reading about Newfs and comparing them to all of the other dogs. My cousin and I would argue about which breed had better merit, Newfs or Great Pyranese. She was sold on the Pyrie and I was sold of course on NEWFS!
Like Kanela and HPond, I've wanted a Newf for what seemed like an eternity. I read and purchased anything Newf related for years, waiting for the right circumstances to provide a safe, happy, well-cared-for existance for my Newf. Ese is the answer to my many prayers. (My cousin hasn't gotten a Pyrie to date. I wonder if she even remembers the passionate debates we would have.
)

Love the World Book Encyclopedia!
I'm also thinking of having her send the "D" book for nostalgia's sake. Thank goodness my parents keep everything. As for Michie, should be here in a week. Since I couldn't have a dog when I was little, he was it. Can't wait to see him. He is in for a deep clean bath! Aren't I silly. Where's my Newf!
