Total gym

I've been looking into buying a new total gym. I have an old "less expensive" model that I bought at a local sporting goods store a couple years ago. It was made by Total Gym (it's not a fake), but it didn't hold up very well. The ball bearings have gone and the sliding ramp doesn't slide smoothly.
They have two models I'm interested in. One is the 2600 which is rated for clinic use (but it's almost $2000, the other is the 1400 which is rated for home use. (It's about $1100.) Do any of you have any first hand knowledge of the Total Gym (in particular these two models)? I want to purchase something that will last! Thanks

We have one in our living room! My husband has used it twice, hurt his neck and there it sits. We have had it about 4 months and we can't figure out why neither one of us has lost any weight...guess we are supposed to actually use it. You would think for the price the weight would just fall of us. I love your avatar by the way, that should be your Christmas card. I wish I had taken a picture of our boys last year by the tree, but it was our first Christmas without my Dad and I just didn't have it in me. But I sure wish I had.

My friend has one and I'm sure it's the home model. She's a Pilates girl so she loves it. I prefer free weights. Did you check e-bay? There's always tons of exercise equipment on there. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have been checking ebay regularly but I haven't seen any total gyms. (they have many of the cheaper models which I already have)but not either of the ones I'm looking at. Pat, do you know which model yours is?

Gary has one. He has had it for about 7 years now. He uses it all the time. It is the better model--not the quality of the one on TV. A few of the parts have worn or broken. Since he is the original owner he has not had to pay for any replacement parts. He had to get a new cable just this year and it was free!!

Certainly look around for a used model. As was (indirectly :D ) mentioned they hardly ever get used so you should be able to find one at a substantial discount from full retail.
