We like our newfies lean and I think it saved a lot of problems when katy had to have her surgery on her knee.

We add veggies to keep our dogs feel fuller when they have to have a reduced meal, crated carrot goes a long way on minimum calories and they love it as green beans do too..i feed RAW, so it is a little different, but I increase the veggies if i want to lower the calories (for Annabelle and tessa)

If you are adding the fish oil...glucosamine /chondrointon (?spell) is also good to add as a supportive/preventative and again we use the human one.....

Good Morning All, I wanted to update everyone and thank everyone for your help and advice.
Thor is doing well and maintaining weight. I am happy with his size/weight.
Rusty, neutered male, is down from 170 to 161 as of last night. I would still like him to lose about 5 lb or so. That would bring him down to 150 - 155 for a steady weight.
Meara however continues to be a problem. She was at 150. She dropped to 145 and then shot back up to 151. No change in diet to account for the weight gain. I have switched entirely to raw over the last few days. She is down to 149. Not a lot but it was a 4 day window. My vet wants her at 125 - 130 so we have a long way to go.
Let me add that I was concerned/cautious about switching to raw.. but even my picky Thor is on the spot for meals and has not turned his nose up at all. The most significant change is in Rusty's coat. It is glossy! And of course Meara is a work in progress.
