The popularity of newfs

Today on our walk someone called my name. We had met earlier and she recognized Obi. When we first met, the lady had been on a walk with her husband, who has dementia and I was out with Obi. We chatted for a while and Obi was his charming self. Turns out her husband was taken with Obi and talks about him all the time so she wanted to know if her husband and respite worker could come and visit us at home some time. By us i mean Obi, of course. They may come on Saturday... So, Obi may be a therapy dog after all. Win win.

Aw, that's so sweet.

I took Spirit to a small local park yesterday that has a playground. The kids all came over to pet him as usual, with their parents looking on. One little girl, around 5 or 6, tentatively petted him on his rump two or three times. Her mom was extremely surprised and delighted because the girl is afraid of big dogs.

So yeah, these Newfs have magical healing powers.

They came today! Obi was a perfect gentleman and rubbed up against his visitors like a cat, let them pet him and then settled down at their feet. It was a short visit but will hopefully pave the way to future ones.
