Okay, I love him, I really do, and deep down he is a sweet smushy love.....BUT ontop of the constant crying to go out which he can't ( he's deaf, we live on a busy road, coyotes etc....) occasional inappropriate elimination, constant knocking over of anything that is not nailed down, chewing through the screens to get out ( which in the past has led to being hit by a car and being attacked by something resulting in a broken jaw and nerve damage ( now healed)) he just broke my cooker!
So its my fault too as I left a marble mortice and pestal on the shelf over the range, but NOT on the edge or even near it, he pushed it over to the edge and over and it landed on the radiant glass cooktop and it shattered on the left side. thankfully leaving two burners unscathed. So I never liked this cooker, I prefer gas and infact we are planning on converting anway and just now will have to push that up, but it is a relitively new range about 4 years old and in the house when we bought it.

HERE IS THE KICKER....to replace the cooktop until we decide to convert to gas, its $550.00. PLUS SHIPPING. what a pain in you know where! UGH I could scream! A new range of the same model is alomst the same price. GRRRRRRRRRRR!
Okay Rant over, i feel better now.

Cats are wonderful critters, aren't they? Actually, I'm a cat lover...we have 4 (3 rescues), but boy oh boy, they can keep you hoppin' at times!

On the bright side...you do get a brand new stovetop! :D

OH! And, he was bein' SO good!

NOT funny, but...being one that prefers gas, I'd have to weigh the cost of now and in the future on converting to gas. I kinda think things aren't gonna get any cheaper.

Give Giles a hug for me. :D

Giddy, I gave him a hug and he says thanks!

There is no way I am spending 550 on a replacement part for a USED COOKER. Not a chance!
Converting to natural gas is way way way out of the question too....BUT we have a propane hot water heater and the gas company says we can run a line from it to the kitchen ourselves and they will inspect it, so we have the code requirements and will do it ourselves then get a simple propane conversion kit for a gas cooker. ( DIY saves us about 500$ on the whole project!) So now I am much happier. PLUS I got the want ads which was chock full of gas cookers and I want to get a good old fashioned one from the 40s or 50s and pop in a propane conversion kit so that will be the light at the end of the tunnel. Cooking on two burners is for the birds though!

Good on YOU, Roisin! :D SEE? Giles just did the time warp for ya's and saved ya money, in the long run! What a GOOD KITTY!

I've run propane lines and they've all passed inspection. Sure saves lots and lots of MOO-LA!!!

The 40's and 50's? FAR OUT!!! Don't blame ya at ALL! I like the new ones that look like they belong in the 1800's, tho, too.

Cooking on 2 burners?? I don't think we've ever used the other three. If it doesn't come in a box and cook in 8 minutes or less....I'll have a salad.

Your kitty was just doing you a favor and forcing you to make a decision that you really wanted to make. You'll be so happy with your new old stove. He's cleaning his paws with a knowing smile right about now.....

Would you believe I have been canning the pears..in a 1910 Swartzbaugh..'Conservo' waterbath cooker..from Toledo, Ohio! If anything happens to it..and nothing does..I have a back up..in the barn. It still has it's ham hook inside..for hanging a dried ham..to steam. Over the years I've had to get nasty with people who were buying fruit..and just hauling out check books and saying how much. They are family members..period. Is it as safe as the presto and other pressure cookers? No way..and thus..it's only used for pears and spiced apples, apple sauce items. Everything else gets frozen.
Sorry about the morter and pestle..that made a whole lot of extra fuss and feathers. Let us know when all is 're done'..according to your specs. :)ina n HB Who sez: Don't investigate boiling hot quarts of pears..when they're cooling on the floor! :(
