I have be studying the standard for the newf. They say "Teeth can be in a scissor or level bite". My conclusion is both is acceptable but my question is: Which is prefered by most judges and why?

Jeannie,
I don't think that most judges have a preference. I think the bite is usually at the bottom of their priorities - (except for the late Peggy Adamson who was always referred to as "the tooth fairy" as bites were high on her priority list).
I saw the NCA's Judges Education slide show/presentation on Saturday (as part of NCNE's educational forum) and the script does say that both are acceptable- and that the dropped lower incisors should not be faulted.
Great forum too! Robin Seaman, Suzanne Jones and Tracy Warncke did a great job! -And had terrific speakers. The orthopedic specialist who spoke about elbow dysplasia was fantastic! VERY VERY educational. Once I've completely "digested" everything I'll post some of the stuff he presented.

Jeannie,
I should have added: From a health standpoint, scissors is better. With a scissors bite, the teeth intermesh and will not wear down as fast. The level bite will cause the teeth to wear down faster from the constant contact of edge against edge.

As of now Adam has a level bite. But isn't it possible that as he grows it may change?

He lost all his baby teeth. The last K9 came out last night. I had scheduled Wednesday morning for the vet to take them out!! Saved me $50 or more!!

How old is Adam now? It is possible for the bite to change.
Glad he cooperated and saved you the money.
He'll find a way to spend it tho.
