Tayla's going away for a night

I'm already fretting. We are getting married next weekend and are going to put Tay in a kennel for the night of the wedding. We thought it would be best as we will be leaving early in the morning and staying where we are having the reception and all our family and friends will be there so we have no-one to look after our girl.
The kennel is five star. Heating and Cooling, Classical music in their room, their own private play yards etc. Do you think that makes me feel any better? NO. I'm already missing her. My fiance reckons I will not even enjoy my own wedding because I will be thinking of Tay the whole time. I'm sure she will be okay. I just have to keep telling myself this.
Don't worry she is coming on the honeymoon with us.
(All our friends think we are mad, at least you guys understand!) Nige didn't want to leave her alone for that long as early next year we have to leave her for three weeks.

Congratulations and enjoy the wedding! Hope Tayla enjoys your honeymoon...Where are you going that is pooch friendly?

Don't worry, Tayla will be just fine! Besides, it sounds like her accommodations are every bit as fancy as a honeymoon suite!

Congratulations in advance on your wedding next week.

Yes, Tayla will do fine. You have a great wedding and congratulations. We are with you and your fiance though, we want to take our guys with us. We love to camp so that is a safe thing to do with them. Although this summer we never got to go because my Dad was so ill. But there is always next year. Again congratulations.

Oh congratulations on your wedding!

You will worry, we all do. But don't let it damper your good time. Tayla will be fine. You wouldn't leave her otherwise.

Congratulations to you and Nige!!!!

Rory went to the kennels once, when she was one, for a night, when Georgia had her 18th birthday party in our backyard. It was no place for a Newfie puppy! (The police came due to noise!)

Rory seemed to be ok. We dropped her off in the afternoon and picked her up the next morning. It was a kennel in Wonga Park.

Tayla could always come and stay with her sister if you prefer!!! (I mean that!).

Boy, newf-netters really are a cool bunch, huh? What a nice offer! It also sounds like the kennel is more like a 5 star hotel to me! Maybe leaving her for a few days now is a good thing and might help condition her for when you're gone for 3 weeks later!

Congratulations and best wishes to you and Nige on your wedding day!

Newf Netters are the best!!!! Amy that's an awesome offer!!!! Either way, it sounds like Tayla will be in good hands. And, as Liz pointed out, a dry run may be a good thing.

Try and enjoy your wedding. They take so much time and thought, that it would be ashame to not enjoy it. Just bring Tayla some wedding cake, and I'm sure she'll be thrilled!!!

I too think it is wonderful that you're taking her with you on your honeymoon!

Last Time I left one of my dogs to be boarded, I left Jake at the vet's while we went to a weekend dog show with Cole & and Savannah and Mom. It was Mother's day weekend and either I boarded Jake and took Mom or we couldn't go to the regional.

When I went to pick Jake up,the vet tech brought him out with the wrong leash. She went to go get the right one and Jake wanted to follow her back in to the back room. He got so much attention and Cheese, he had a ball.

I have seen it many many times. People bring their dogs to be dropped off for boarding, they ooohh and aaahh over the dog saying "I'll be back" or "It's ok". After they leave the dog could care less. They go into their runs and are just fine. Believe me Tayla will be just fine. It is you that I am worried about.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys.
Amy, thanks for the offer, that is so nice but I think the Liz is right a one night stay is probably a good idea for her to get used to being away form home. We have gone away without her before but one of my sisters has always stayed at our place with her.
Nige has only just started a new job and could only get 1 week off, so we are going to a place in the Victorian high country called Daylesford. It is about two and a half hours form home. We are staying in a cottage that has a spa and open fire inside and a jucuzzi and pool (guess where we will find Tayla all the time) outside. It is in a beautiful gully surrounded by bushland and only a couple of minutes walk to the local lake and the main street which is scattered with galleries, antique stores and cafes. I can't wait.

Hey, no problems Nicole, you're right, it's a good practice run for Tayla!

Daylesford will be unreal, I've never been but have ALWAYS meant to go. Apparently Frangos and Frangos is a great restaurant there.

Have a happy wedding and an even better honeymoon! Looks like you will get enough good weather to use that pool, considering today is 37C!!!!! (98.7F)
