So I was suppose to get my DSLR yesterday but it didn't happen.

It is on hold till tomorrow.

There are so many to pick from, I am a little lost.

This is my first DSLR so i'm not looking to spend a fortune.

Here is what is on hold, is this a good starter camera and lenses?

Nikon D5000 12.3 Megapixel

18-55mm lens

55-200mm zoom lens

35mm f/1.8 lens

Your thoughts?

Sounds like a good place to start. It is about what was in my start up bag. I quickly bought other faster lenses. I shoot Canon, but Nikon is great too. If you know the f-stops for the lenses you could post them. I assume they are not real fast lenses but good enough for starting. I still use my start up lenses quite a bit. The 35mm would be fast . What is your thinking of getting that one? I have a 50mm f/1.8 and rarely use it. I use is mostly inside but it is inconvienent because it a fixed focal length.I see the 35 comes with the camera.

I'm a Nikon user too. :) Both Canon and Nikon are excellent choices. You will not be disappointed! Worry less about brands and shoot away!!!
