Staph and Tresaderm

Holly has been diagnosed with a staph infection through a culture. It's primarily scabby/crusty bumps on the top of her head. I have found one other scabby bump on her hip area. The vet has told me to use Tresaderm on these spots to clear the infection. Does this seem right? I've used it for yeasty ears but I've never heard of using it topically for staph.

And I have no idea what caused the infection. I did find one flea on her a few weeks ago and used advantage. She is on a prey model diet. I'm currently trying to eliminate chicken for a few weeks to see if that helps. Maybe it's time to eliminate the vet and find a new one :D.

Found this info...apparently it is a recommended treatment for topical staph aureus.

. In treating dermatoses affecting other than the ear the surface of the lesions should be well moistened (2 to 4 drops per square inch) with Dermatologic Solution TRESADERM twice daily. The volume required will be dependent upon the size of the lesion.

Sunshine has been going through a bout of staph. I think it started from a cut on her paw. Our vet said that dogs always have the staph bacteria on their coats & it only takes a cut to get it into the blood stream. Sunny was on antibiotics, 2 rounds. The second different antibiotic made her very ill. I am keeping an eye on her & putting an ointment on her nose where she has lost the hair & it was scabby. I believe, once the scabs are formed & then flaking off in the hair, that is the end cycle.
