argh...my bargain hunting soul is fighting with my sensible self. There's an ad in the paper for AKC registered newf pups at $650.

DON'T WORRY. I will not be calling this number. 1. My husband would kill me. 2. Bad bad bad really bad idea 3. I have no business dealing with any more poop than I do.

It's just, given our recent discussion on breeders and buyers, that THIS (the bargain hunting demon) is what drives some people to buy poorly bred dogs. I mean, how tempting is that price? I'm well aware that I pay for what I get. That's why I avoid certain large multinational chain stores that sell ultra cheap stuff. However, we're both public servants in this household. We live comfortably, but bringing Atticus home involved quite a bit of working overtime for me. He is definitely a luxury I can afford, but barely. He is my entire work clothes budget for this year. I'm okay with that, never was terribly vain.

I will admit that I did a reverse lookup on the phone number and looked for any info on the person selling the puppies (didn't find any).

thanks all. Just had to get it off my chest. Now I can go to bed knowing someone out there knows what I was thinking for a split second. I can't even express this to hubby, since he would look at me and sigh his deep, there-she-goes-again sigh...and he's right...and I have more common sense than that....and I'm mostly not very impulsive.... sleep well everyone.

Yeah, I can see how tempting that is. I'll quietly admit we probably got Cordelia from a byb ... and I thought $800 was expensive for a pup.

I will say the recent threads have taught me a LOT. I won't be making that mistake twice, so if nothing else, I've been grateful for the discussions.
