Solo, The Prude

I have to giggle at Solo. I was just sitting here thinking about him and our hikes. He really likes them. Mainly, cause we're all out and heading in the same direction, for the most part.

A couple weeks ago we went hiking to a place called Mill Creek (dry creek). Solo likes to go walking though the plants so I always bring a curry comb with me to get the burrs and sticks off him. I was combing him out and Sean started laughing. He said it looked like there had been a giant fight between a black animal and a white one and the black one won. It was totally fuzzy where I was working :D

But what really cracks me up is the extent to which Solo is private. He will go waaay out of his way to go potty behind a bush. He will not go within eyesight. Always behind a bush. It's so cute. lol We'll all be standing on the trail, waiting... waiting ... waiting ... Then here come Solo, silly grin on his face, running back to get in line :D

Pretty COOL! One of my dogs, Link, from 35 years ago was the same way. I've even got an old movie of that. We'd been out in the snow, he came up missin', so...I turned the camera with me...pretty soon, here he came...runnin' out from behind shrubs. :D

My Joseph was almost as bad, but he was EXCELLENT at goin' ONLY in the potty area. I had him at Mom's...250' away from me...he had to go potty...I opened the door to let him out...he ran all the way home to the potty area....did what he had to do...and came runnin' all the way back.

They were BOTH really good boys.

Aww, they really are their own selves, aren't they?
I'm glad Solo will go away from home (Khiori wouldn't until we had a long talk about "We're going to be gone for several DAYS")

Leo is a real hoot though. It took me a while to discover that he goes while walking LOL. I wondered why sometimes he'd walk slow... hee hee

Frank, our lab/spaniel is the same way. Ever since she was a puppy she would get as far from people as possible before takin' care of business. She is also absolutely horrified when any animal has an accident in the house. I would be willing to bet that we could leave her in the house for an entire weekend and wouldn't find any messes when we got home. Not that I would try it, of course.
