Skin Problems

My puppy has been losing hair on the front of her rear legs and has had flakey skin. She has been receiving lyme sulpher dips for about a month. The likely diagnosis was mites, but scrapings have turned up nothing. The hair loss is growing, but she is not itchy. The lady at the pet food store calls it puppy mange.
The spooky thing is that her mom had exactly the same symptoms at nearly the same age (8 mos.). Has anybody run into a familial condition like this? Mom cleared up at 11 months after sulpher lyme dips. I am wondering if it is how bitches in this line react to the impending onset of puberty.

Any thing you can suggest? She has good coat on her body, but a few hot spot type sores that are easily managed. It is the moth eaten legs that are driving me crazy!

Thanks
Vicki

Vicki, I seem to remember 1 or 2 of mine doing that. Don't think there was much hair loss, but there WERE scabs. I just used neosporin cream and it cleared up. That works for hot spots, too. Handy stuff to keep in the house! I prefer the ointment for the cuts and scratches I have, klutz that I am, but I like the cream for the dogs-not as sticky and absorbed better.

Thanks Lynne,
I'll give the cream a try, but there is no broken skin or irritation on her legs, just missing hair. It looks like someone did a bad wax job, only left a few hairs in place!
