Does anyone have any experience with a pup from a single pup litter?
What are the pros and cons of this? Am I asking for trouble?
Thanks

Socializing will be a priority. If the breeder has another litter near the same age, hopefully he/she will let the singleton play with them. Bite inhibition is frequently absent in singleton pups. Enroll in a puppy class asap. Find a trainer who will allow young pups or find a friend with a pup near the same age and size. Dogs are better at teaching bite inhibition than humans are, but be prepared to deal with it.

Can't think of anything else.

My only experience has been a rough collie.......She was a very timid shy and neurotic dog. Though adorable. They are a totally different breed though. But all people with experience told me it was due to her being an only pup. Cody was extremely actively socialized from the age of eight weeks. But she never seemed quite as we would have liked her to be. But again, it is a totally different breed.
Our breeder has had a single pup litter recently and she borrowed two mastiff pups (from a litter of ten) from day four to go with her single pup until the age of eight weeks for the same reason Jane described. It was a cute looking litter. Newf mom with two brown and one black pup.

I had a singleton pup years ago...but because she was raised with other dogs who disciplined and socialized with her, she was perfectly FINE. I can see how raising them in a human situation only could cause issues. With mine, her mother and grandmother played with her all the time, and they taught her bite inhibition and all the things she needed to know. Some adult bitches are very good at teaching pups, some arent'.
