o.k. it seems like I am always asking questions, but this is the only place I trust to get answers. So is a practice for some breeders to sell an older dog that is done having pups?I have seen on finda puppy.com older dogs for sale. One breeder said she was selling due to health problems, and I get that. But is this a pratice in breeding. I am do not know what to think and since there are some great breeders here I thought I would see what you guys believe.

Alot of times you'll see breeders place an older dog that they are retireing from their program in a home to be dotted on and loved like no other. However, this is usually done as a rehome or placement for little or no fee... at least that's the experience I've had with it.

And when it is done, the home is usually even better screened then it would be for thier puppies. This is a dog that has been part of their life, and have shared many trials and happiness.

SURE! I'd be pretty hesitant getting one from a "Buy your Puppy here" site, tho. A responsible breeder won't usually advertise on those kind of websites...they have a following from their breeding practice and word of mouth is a MUCH better way of selling pups or dogs, IMO.

My breeder places some of her females that are finished breeding or that she does not want to keep in her breeding program . I think with larger kennels it is a common practice. I don't know how they do it...but I guess they can't keep everything.

It is very common practice to repoutable breeders to 'rehome' dogs that they are no longr going to breed or for what ever reason are not going to breed. They find homes for them from people who looking for dogs from them, by letting people they know that that they have an adult dog to place. IF they a reputable breeder they usually have some very good contacts to find a home.

selling a newf as a security dog
NO WAY!, anybody selling a newf as a security dog sets off about 10 different alarms to me.

The only thing I would trust is selling a newf as a security blanket dog :D
