Hi, this is my first time to this site. I have two Newf's one is 11 his name is Baoewolfe and a 5 month old pup - his name is Badger. We weren't looking for another dog (we have two other "regular" dogs. He was given to us because the breeder could not place him because he had a "slight" murmer. Well, needless to say it is more than slight. We fell in love with him - naturally - Last week we took him to a cardioligist and the results are not good. He has severe SAS. His numbers are well above the severe range and is a perfect canidate for sudden death. They started him on beta blockers as he was not a good risk for balloon surgery. We will love him and give him the best home possible. Has anyone else had similar case?

Poor little thing. How is he doing?

I admire your ability to take him as a puppy with an uncertain future. I think I would be too selfish to do it, just remembering how devestated I was when my last dog died.

I don't have any experience with heart probs in pups so can't offer any advise or give any info but wanted to see how your little guy is.
